The SL500-LTEM (GL) modem is a low power LTE Cat M / NB IoT modem that is used to create a data connection over the LTE cellular network to link a remote application with a server. It provides an intelligent serial gateway with set-up and management through Siretta’s cloud based management portal, SirettaLINK (www.siretta-link.com)

The SL500 solution moves away from the traditional approach of setup and management using AT commands which require a high skill level to implement correctly. Instead, setup and management are all achieved using the modern cloud-based SirettaLINK management portal which makes deployment and remote management a simple task.

The SL500 modems are ready for use with the SirettaLINK management portal, making savings in development and time to market. The SirettaLINK solution means deployment and remote management is simple and gets over the need to spend time developing applications with AT commands on your host platform.

The SL500-LTEM (GL) modem uses an embedded STM32F405 ARM® Cortex® M4 core processor to implement advanced functionality. This runs an application that connects the SL500-LTEM(GL) modem to the SirettaLINK Management Portal using an encrypted link, where it downloads the configuration profile for connecting to the customers specified resource and posts operational data.

Modes of operation
The SirettaLINK solution supports three different modes of operation shown below. Once the connection has been initiated and communication is established between the server and the device, the communication channel is bi-directional and either side of the connection can send data to the other.
Client Connect Mode
The SirettaLINK device initiates the connection to the client server when data is available to send on the RS232 serial port. Once connected, the SirettaLINK device can send data to the client server and the client server can send data to the SirettaLINK device. After the specified RX timeout, the SirettaLINK device will disconnect from the client server and will wait until more data is available.
Client Maintain Mode
The SirettaLINK device initiates the connection to the client server at power up and maintains a persistent connection with the client server which is available permanently. Once connected, the SirettaLINK device can send data to the client server and the client server can send data to the SirettaLINK device. The SirettaLINK device will not disconnect from the client server and will remain connected permanently.
Server Listen Mode
The SirettaLINK device listens for an incoming data connection from the defined client server. Once the client server has established a data connection to the SirettaLINK device it can send or receive data from the client server. After the specified RX timeout, the SirettaLINK device will disconnect from the client server and will start listening again for a new incoming data connection.

Designed to operate permanently in a low power state, the SirettaLINK SL500-LTEM (GL) consumes less power than other connected solutions available on the market.

The SirettaLINK solution will use less power in its standard operating state for sending and receiving data which can reduce the overall power consumption in some applications by up to 75%.
